Ottawa - How to switch between Lambton College and SPU classroom multimedia

Due to the shared spaces at Saint Paul University (SPU), the Lambton College (LC) faculty members on the Ottawa campus must share classrooms G101, G102, G103A, G104 and G105 on the Guigues building. The classrooms have an LC laptop and an SPU desktop connected to a switch located beneath the desk that shares the multimedia devices, such as a keyboard, mouse, monitor, TV, microphones, and camera,

In order to switch between those devices, it is necessary to press a white button with the label "Select input,“ it will switch and indicate with an LED under the LC and SPU logos which device is in use accordingly.

After the button is pressed, it will take about ten (10) seconds to have a signal on the monitor and TV. Then, the screen will display the blue logging windows; that way, we can check that the switch is connected to the LC laptop.

The TV mirrors the monitor and doesn't have the functionality to extend the displays because both are connected to the same output.

On the desk, the faculty will have a sheet with instructions on how they can switch among devices just above the ClearOne switch.

To turn up/down the volume in the classroom, we let them know that the volume must be managed on the laptop/desktop and not on the TV or Camera, avoiding using the remote for this purpose. Also, we recommend that faculty members avoid turning off the camera whether they use it or not.

We encourage the faculty members that each time they use the classroom device, they don’t have to open the lid of the laptop and should close their session at the end of each lecture.
