Teams calling- SPAM Mitigation Options
We can't stop all spam and "vishing" calls but there are some steps we can take to try and reduce unwanted calls.Â
Rogers, our service provider, has systems in place as per the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) to block invalid incoming numbers. These spammers are smart, and now user legitimate numbers which bypass these systems.
Option 1: In Teams in the top right corner under ... > Settings > Privacy you can block callers that don't have Caller ID. Under Settings > Calls you can forward calls directly to voicemail and then screen from voicemail.Â
Option 2: You can also set your status to Do Not Disturb and the calls should not go through (nor will other alerts in Teams unless they are listed as a priority): Update your status or set a status message in Microsoft Teams (free) - Microsoft Support
Option 3: Spam calls that come from different numbers each time, if you notice patterns or repeated calls from specific numbers, you can manually block them. When you receive a call, right-click on the number in the call history, and select "Block." This will prevent future calls from that particular number.
