Microsoft 365 - Enable Inclusive Language

In Outlook Client on PC

  1. Click “File” at the top left of the Outlook screen

  1. Click “Options” at the bottom left of the “File” menu

  1. From the Options menu, select “Mail” > “Editor Options…”

  1. From the “Proofing” menu, ensure “Mark grammar errors as you type” is enabled, and then open the “Grammar & Refinements” settings

  1. Scroll down to the “Inclusiveness” section and enable the options

  1. Click OK

In Word for PC

  1. Click “File” at the top left of the Word screen

  1. Click “Options” at the bottom of the “File” menu

  1. Select “Proofing” on the left, ensure “Mark grammar errors as you type” is enabled, and then open the “Grammar & Refinements” settings

  1. Scroll down to the “Inclusiveness” section and enable the options

  1. Click OK

In Word for Mac

  1. Click “Word” from the Mac menu bar

  1. Click on “Spelling & Grammar”

  1. Under “Grammar” ensure “Check grammar as you type” is enabled, and then open the “Grammar & Refinements” settings

  1. Scroll through the “Grammar and style options” list until you find the inclusive language settings (they are grouped, but there is a heading)

  1. Click OK
