Copy an Entire D2L Course Shell Into Another Course Shell
Copying an entire course shell in D2L (Desire2Learn) can be a valuable tool for faculty members. This process allows instructors to efficiently transfer course materials, structure, and settings from one course to another. Whether you're preparing for a new semester, teaching multiple sections of the same course, or sharing resources with colleagues, copying a course shell saves time and ensures consistency. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can streamline your course preparation and focus more on engaging with your students and enhancing their learning experience.
Instructions
Follow these steps:
Navigate to the Target Course:
Go to the course where you want to copy the content (the destination course).
Access Course Administration:
Click on Course Admin from the course navigation bar.
Select Import/Export/Copy Components:
In the Course Administration area, click on Import/Export/Copy Components.
Choose Copy Components from Another Org Unit:
Select Copy Components from Another Org Unit and click on Search for Offering.
Search for the Source Course:
Enter the name or course code of the course you want to copy from (the source course) and press Enter.
Select the Source Course:
Choose the appropriate course from the search results by clicking the radio button next to it, then click Add Selected.
Copy All Components:
Select Copy All Components to copy the entire course. You can also choose specific components if needed.
Wait for the Process to Complete:
The copying process may take a few minutes. Once it's done, you'll see a confirmation message.
Review and Adjust:
Go back to the destination course and review the copied content. Make any necessary adjustments or updates.
You also have the option to copy specific components from course to course by choosing the Copy Select Components option, and then choosing the items to copy.
