Personalizing the Start Here Menu in D2L

Each semester a new course shell will be created in D2L approximately 1 month prior to the start of the course.  Each shell will come prepopulated with a Start Here menu that instructors MUST personalize with their own personal and course information.  The red instructions will guide you for each area....be sure to delete the instructions once completed.  The following video walks you through the process of making the necessary updates to the Start Here menu.

**ONLY IF you are working with a new DEV shell, you will need to add the Start Here menu to the course before you get started.  Follow these instructions to add the Start Here menu to a new DEV shell:

• Click HERE to Download the Zip file to your Downloads folder

• Go to the D2L DEV shell

• Click the gear in the top right corner of the screen and choose "Import/Export/Copy Components"

• Select "Import Components"

• Click Start

• Drag the zip file from your downloads folder to the dotted box

• Click Import All Components

• Wait until all 3 steps have completed

**If you are copying a Start Here menu from a previous semester, you will want to delete the Start Here menu in the current semester's shell first.  To do this, click Start Here > click the dropdown arrow beside the Start Here title and choose Delete.
