Associate a D2L Quiz to the Gradebook
Associating a D2L quiz with the gradebook ensures that students' quiz scores are automatically recorded and integrated into the overall course grading system. Once the gradebook is set up, linking a quiz to it streamlines grading by eliminating the need for manual score entry, saving time and reducing the risk of errors. Additionally, it allows instructors to easily track students' progress and performance in real-time, providing both students and faculty with up-to-date insights. By associating quizzes with the gradebook, faculty can also take advantage of grading tools such as weighted grades, drop-low features, and grade calculations, further enhancing the grading process and ensuring consistency across assessments.
Instructions
From within your D2L course:
Click Assessments
Click Quizzes
Click on your quiz
Click on "Not in Gradebook"
Choose "Edit or Link to Existing"
Choose "Link to Existing Grade Item”
Choose the corresponding grade item (e.g. Quiz #2)
Save
Save and Close
If the grades don’t publish to your gradebook, double check your quiz settings (specifically the Evaluation & Feedback section) and be sure that the “Synchronize to grade book on publish” box has been checked.
If you don’t see the corresponding grade item that you would like to associate the quiz with (assuming your gradebook is set up), it likely means that the grade item is already associated with another assessment. In this case, you will need to remove the association.
