Requirements
- A bright room with a lightly-coloured plain wall or light background
- A newer smart phone or camera
- Assistance from a second person, if possible
Lighting Best Practices
- It is always best to have the the light facing the you. Avoid standing with a light source behind you, such as a window. Even a covered window can cause lighting issues
- The light should be a few feet away to avoid casting shadows on your face
Framing Best Practices
- Adjust the camera so it is roughly the same height as you
- Frame the shot starting mid-chest from the bottom to just above the top of your head
Subject Best Practices
- Make sure to look at the camera
- Ideally, wear clothing with solid colours or clothing that is subtly patterned.
