Before You Begin!

Many PCs come with Microsoft 365 pre-loaded when purchased new. If you are following these instructions for a new purchase or have never restored or removed software from your computer, check your "Start" menu to see if Office software is pre-loaded already. If so, proceed directly to Step 7 of this guide.

Staff and students at Lambton College receive a free license for Microsoft 365. This cloud based Office suite can either be accessed and used directly through myLambton, or installed locally to a computer for offline use by following the steps below.

Once students graduate, they will keep access to the desktop app roughly for 30 days after graduating, upon becoming alumni, they will lose access to Teams, OneDrive and the desktop and web versions of Microsoft 365. We recommend that students copy any data they will require from their accounts before graduating.

Note:

Not all Microsoft productivity software is included with Microsoft 365. Users requiring additional software not shown in the table below may need to purchase additional software/licences based on their needs.

Note

The Office 365 version of software may vary from those included with a standard license (available on all college computers). Though functionality is mostly the same, menus, toolbars, and features may be arranged differently, and some features are not yet included. All Office apps include a robust help feature you can utilize to get acquainted and learn the new layouts. Look for the light bulb icon near the top middle of the page, and search in the "Tell me what you want to do..." box to access it (see below).
