Activating a D2L course shell is essential for faculty because it makes the course visible to students and enables them to access important materials and assignments. Until the course is activated, students cannot view content, submit assignments, or participate in discussions, which can create confusion and delays at the start of the semester. Activation also allows faculty to configure course settings, add content, and customize the gradebook before students interact with the course.

Click My Tools
Edit Course
Course Offering Information
Scroll down the page and check the box beside “Course is active”
Save
Remember that faculty have to activate the course shell in order for students to access the course materials. If you see the Inactive label on the homepage, your course is not activated.
