The Final Calculated Grade setting in D2L automates the calculation of final grades based on the weighted average of grade items, offering consistency, accuracy, and transparency. It saves time by eliminating manual calculations, ensures objective grading, and provides students with clear insights into how their grades are determined. However, it lacks flexibility for manual adjustments to individual grades, which could be a limitation in cases of extenuating circumstances. This setting is ideal for faculty seeking an efficient, automated approach to grading, as long as the gradebook is set up correctly from the start.
