This is a secure wireless connection (SSID) that will have access to additional resources onsite such as Colleague, network drive (J:\, M:\), etc
Users log in with their college username and password. Generally, this prompts when you connect to the SSID. However, connecting to lambtonsecure using Win7 or Win10 systems requires a few intervening steps, unlike MAC and Phone platforms. The following step-by-step is shown with Win10 Enterprise edition. Other versions/releases of Windows will be similar.
Step-by-step guide
- Open Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center
- Select "Set up a new Connection or network"
- Select "Manually connect to a wireless network"
- Enter the information for the new network, selecting or de-selecting the appropriate check-boxes, as pictured below.
- Select "Change connection settings"
- Click the "Security" tab appearing next. De-select "Remember my credentials for this connection..."
- Select the "Settings" tab on the same page.
- De-select "Verify the server's identity..." and select "Enable Fast Reconnect"
- Click the "Configure" button to the right of this option.
- De-select "Automatically use my Windows login name..." and click OK.
- Click OK on the next screen (the previous one, of step 12.
- Click the "Advanced Settings" tab, and on the "802.1X settings" page, select "Specify authentication mode". Then use the drop-down to select "User authentication".
- Click OK, then OK, then close.
- You should now be able to connect to the lambtonsecure SSID. You will be prompted for your login credentials and these will be your AD account, c0# etc.
