Provincial Update
There was no Committee of Presidents' meeting held since January 24, 2019
Strategic Pillars
1. Enhance the Student Experience
- Had the privilege of attending the Lawrence House for the Arts Lambton Arts Collective opening night. Awarded three President’s awards to students in the area of ceramics, photography, and drawing.
- Kantar TNS, the company hired to administer the College’s Employment Engagement Survey lead two sessions: one for the College Leadership and another for all employees. The sessions provided general information on the engagement survey set to be launched March 11 to March 22nd. As well, it provided an opportunity for all to ask questions, clarify expectations, and be prepared to participate.
2. Centre of Excellence in Energy and Bio-Industrial Technology
- Attended and spoke at the Canadian Fuels Association ‘Keeping Ontario Moving’ event in Sarnia. The event brought together key community partners and the chemical industry leadership to release the Association’s economic impact study. The interconnectedness and collaborative work between the industry and the community partners is to be celebrated.
3. Strengthens Industry, Community and Post-Secondary Institutions Partnerships
- Continued participation in the Colleges Ontario Private Public Partnerships Taskforce. It is expected the government review will take place over March with a framework announcement in April 2019.
- Chaired the eCampus Board meeting. Ecampus received confirmation that the funding would continue in 2018-2019, which will support the development of digital resources in Nursing, Business, Trades and Technology, and Experiential Learning (Francophone).
- Hosted a College information meeting and tour for new City Councillor, George Vandenberg. The College hosted the other new City Councillors earlier in January as well.
- Greeted and welcomed Mamiko Reeves, Vice-President, Northwood College to Lambton College. The College has run a successful partnership with Northwood College, MI for many years in China.
4. Renew our Campus Environment
- Celebrated and thanked Kel-gor Limited for their generous gift to the Envision Tomorrow Capital and Equipment Renewal Campaign in support of the Alumni Hall and the VIP Seating Area in the NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre. The celebration was held in conjunction with a Lambton Lions basketball game and incoporated a well attended reception immediately preceding the game.
